This Privacy Policy explains what information Shaar’s Cars collects, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a hash, never in plain text).

Vehicle data: whatever you enter or upload - vehicle details, service/fuel history, notes, photos, VIN, license plate, and insurance information you choose to add.

Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, Square processes your payment and card details directly - we never receive or store your full card number. We do store a reference token, your subscription status, and billing history metadata.

Usage information: basic technical data (IP address, browser type) collected automatically for security and troubleshooting.

How We Use It

• To operate the Service - storing and displaying your vehicle data back to you
• To process payments and manage subscriptions
• To send you account-related email (verification, password reset, reminders you've opted into)
• To improve the Service and fix problems

AI Processing

If you use a scanning feature (receipts, VIN tags, insurance cards, license plates), the photo you upload is sent to Anthropic (our AI provider) to extract information from it. Anthropic processes this data under its own API terms; we don't control how they secure it beyond what those terms specify. Don't use scanning features on photos containing information you're not comfortable being processed by a third-party AI service.

Who We Share Data With

• Square - payment processing for paid subscriptions
• Anthropic - AI photo-scanning features, only for photos you choose to scan
• [Your email provider, e.g. Hostinger SMTP] - delivering account emails
• Other users you explicitly share a vehicle with - they see whatever vehicle data you've made visible to them, nothing else

We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, [DESCRIBE YOUR ACTUAL DELETION BEHAVIOR HERE - e.g. "your data is permanently deleted within X days" or "certain records are retained for Y reason"].

Your Rights

You can access, correct, or delete most of your data directly within the app. To request a full copy or deletion of your data, contact us.

Cookies & Sessions

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
