Turbo Wastegate
Critical For OperationTurbo/Supercharger
The wastegate diverts a portion of exhaust gas around the turbine wheel to maintain target boost pressure and prevent engine damage from excessive turbo pressure.
The wastegate is a pressure-relief valve mounted on or integral to the turbocharger that regulates how much exhaust gas spins the turbine wheel. When boost pressure reaches a target level, the wastegate opens to bypass excess exhaust, preventing overboosting and protecting the engine. A faulty wastegate can cause uncontrolled boost pressure or insufficient boost.
